New York Fashion Week Opened Its Runway

At 3:00 p.m. today, the lights went up at Gotham Hall in Manhattan and the first models stepped out — 40 looks from four designers (Vast Glamour, Nita Belles Closet, Island by Koa Nani, and Dragonwing) — officially opening New York Fashion Week's September 2026 season.
It's easy to think of Fashion Week as one continuous blur of front rows and flashbulbs, but it actually starts at one specific moment: the first model on the first runway of the week. Everything that follows — tonight's 6:00 p.m. show, the 8:30 p.m. finale with its own after-party, and the days of presentations still to come — traces back to that 3:00 p.m. opening.
Fashion Week has always sold itself on being of-the-moment, on catching a trend right as it's happening rather than after the fact. There's something fitting about a season that prizes timing above almost everything else having an exact, recorded, official start time.
